Since the energy crisis of 1974, the American public has made a conscious effort to save energy. The typical U.S. home and/or office is tighter and more energy efficient than ever before. Unfortunately, the construction methods used to make the structure more energy efficient can often have a negative effect. These methods tend to trap bad air and contaminants inside the building. Exposure to toxic materials is 5-10 times higher indoors than it is outdoors. Central heating and air conditioning are major sources in the contamination cycle. Dust and other contaminants are actually circulated throughout the structure by the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system. These contaminants build up in the ductwork and furnace unit. Most homes use low efficiency filters, which often trap less than 20% of the dust and contaminants, allowing the rest circulate through the system. Any moisture present provides an ideal environment for biological organisms such as mold, mildew, and bacteria to thrive.
With the proven success of the Porta Dryer, Lloyd Weaver further refined on-location drying techniques, developed specialized equipment and authored "The Original Manual" on water damage restoration. At seminars across the country, Lloyd Weaver taught hundreds of companies on the use of this specialized equipment for on-location drying. Many of these companies are still using some of the original Lloyd’s equipment built in the early 1970’s.
In March of 1993, Lloyd Weaver received the Distinguished Service Award from the Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration (ASCR) for his innovation and pioneering spirit demonstrated through exemplary dedication and service to the Cleaning and Restoration Industry.
Today, Lloyd’s Inc., along with Lloyd Weaver and his sons, remains committed to furthering cleaning and restoration technology. Lloyd’s Inc. engineering department is continually refining current techniques, designing new equipment and conducting extensive on-site field tests within their own restoration and cleaning divisions.
With forty years of experience and the latest in equipment and technology, Lloyd’s Inc. is able to respond to the needs of cleaning and restoration companies. This is the same commitment that Lloyd Weaver started with in 1956.
